Starting work for 'Blue' this week.
Busted another website using my image from the homepage to help sell their programme without my knowledge. There was a testimonial next to it. I bet they never thought I'd find out. Vigilance is necessary.
15th February 2010
I've had an interested buyer for the portrait already! It's not actually on the market yet.
I'm feeling great about my approach to the "True Blue" series. There will be some nice little surprises for us all.

The
A'bald portrait is spooky-has a real presence. I can't wait to show you
all but I think I'll keep it under wraps until it's entered.
Now
working on 2 (maybe 3) pieces for Gallery 12 in Pialligo. There's an
exhibition in March "The Art of the Shoe". I'll keep you posted.
15 January 2010
'Blue' is coming soon..............we've started the ball rolling!
I've begun my Archibald entry and might enter the Sulman too. Gotta be in it.
Apparently the Moran prize won't be calling for entries for a few months, so can relax a bit. Last year it was tough getting entries in to both big comps around the same time.
Also preparing some pieces for Gallery 12 exhibtion 'The Art of the Shoe' in March.
Busy, busy, busy.
9th January 2010
Happy New Year! Just to let you know that 'Room for Cake' has been extended until 5pm 11th January.
More soon..............
The 3 little paintings all sold! I didn't win the competition but I'm so pleased that someone liked the works so much that they bought the lot; in fact they bought every single entry! Thank you to you & thanks Rarified.
I've been sketching my ideas for the A prize and DM prizes which I'll be working on over the next few weeks-probably a lot during the Aust. Open. Love that tennis. In fact, I had my easel set up in my loungeroom last year to do Virginia's portrait. I'm sure it helped my focus! Also, I really needed that space as the kitchen was far too small for her.
Ok, that's my final entry for this year. Thank you for visiting. Happy happy festive season and I'll catch you up again in 2010. Best wishes XX
11 Dec 2009
Delivered 3 little paintings for the 'Rarified Big Draw' competition today which I managed to work on yesterday. Sam Simpson Morgan, Rarified's director says she'll be hanging the entries today and the draw will happen Thursday 17th Dec. For details go to Links Page. Great idea Sam, thanks!

The opening was fantastic! I'll post pics and more info in the 'What's On' page here as soon as I can. In the meantime, if you would like to see the photos, you can have a look at my 'fan' page on F'book.
Thank you to everyone for making it such a special afternoon. I feel so lucky to have such great support. Cheers!
5 Dec 2009

26 Nov 2009
Finished "Reading Room"
and should have another done by tomorrow.
Site has been down for a few days so
we haven't been able to put anything into New Work page etc...anyway, it's all
fixed now hopefully.
Had to go to Perth for a few days
for family reasons and as we flew over WA I was in awe of the treasure trove
which stretched out as far as the eye can see. Greatly inspiring and uplifting.
11 days to go to the exhibition!
16 Nov 2009
I completed the piece "If I
close my eyes" which will be posted on the site asap.A detail of it can be
seen on fb (see links).
I had a little break from working
this week and spent the weekend in Oberon. Saturday afternoon I was treated to
a glide through the air above Bathurst-wondrous, exhilarating, inspirational.
8th Nov 2009
We started getting the invites for
'Room for Cake' out this week and we've had some great feedback.
I've almost finished another piece
for the show and also working on some finishing touches to my little
linocuts.....and poem.
Only a few weeks to go!
Today, the 'Blue' group (me, Gosia,
Glenda and Roslyn) met at Tuggeranong Arts Centre to work out roughly which
wall we'll each hang our works for our show in May. It's going to be sparkling.
I feel besparkled!
31 October 2009
We finalised our invitation this
week after spending a fair amount of time working out the images we liked. I'll
post it in What's On as soon as I can. It goes to the printer next week so
we'll be distributing around Canberra by the end of the week.
Suzy played me the music she'll be
dancing to at the opening and it's gorgeous. It's got a french feel to it so it
will be perfect for our whimsical summer afternoon!
25 October 2009
Last week Gosia & I spent some
time getting some of the details sorted for the ex. like invitations, media
release etc..I'll post them on the website as soon as I can!
I had a little break from my work
but did prepare 2 canvasses which will also end up in the ex. I've also started
printing the linocut images onto canvasses.
16 October 2009
Gosia & I met with Elaine at the
Yarralumla Gallery to have a chat about the RFC exhibition. It's shaping up to
be a really lovely opening with Suzy's dance and some yummy treats which
include mini cupcakes. Actually, the whole show will be great. This year, I've
decided to include some of my little linocut prints and...............a poem
which will be presented in a very special way. The excitement is building!
9 October 2009
Another week has brushed past and
I've completed a painting which I'm really happy with. Reflections of a day (a detail pic is on facebook ,see links page).
I'll include it in the RFC ex in
Dec.(see 'what's on' page). It's76cm x 76cm, and have decided to
do a few smaller in same style.
That's my daytime painting; at
nights I've been doing some linocuts to include in the ex. as well.
Have confirmed Suzy Piani will be
dancing at the opening! Should be lovely.
2 October 2009
Started a new painting for 'RMC' and
very excited about it because it's a bit of an insight into my daily work
environment (ahem STUDIO!). Only 9 weeks to the opening on Dec. 6th at
Yarralumla Gallery.
Opened a 'fan' page on FBook for my
artwork which is interesting. I'm a bit nervous about things like that but
we'll see how it goes.
Oh well, didn't get selected for the
CAP. Try again next year. It'll be good to see the exhibition at the SCG. Goes
to the MCG too I think.
Visited the new & rather slick
Belconnen Arts Centre today. Wonderfully light and welcoming.
Locked in our 'Blue' exhibition at
Tuggeranong Arts Centre for May 2010.
25 September 2009
Have begun #2 painting in series for
RFC ex. Thinking of something special for the opening.
Decided on the portraits for the
prizes (Archibald & Doug Moran) next year. Not revealing the idea yet,
you'll just have to wait and see!
Took the kids to McCubbin yesterday.
Uplifting. Sparkling.
18 September 2009
It was nice to get notified that my
entry in the Cricket Art Prize had been received. That doesn't always
happen-usually you just hope it gets where it's going.
I've started and almost completed
the first painting in a series for 'Room for Cake' with some very fashionable
tea-towels!
'White' finishes on Sunday at
Gallery 12, Pialligo Plant Farm.
Went to Floriade last Sunday-just
glorious. My son and I wondered what was in the time capsule near the big
dogwood?
11 September 2009
This week brought excellent news; our
'Blue' submission was successful. The group I am involved with for it will be
Gosia Orzechowska, Roslyn Paonin and Glenda Wakeham who were all part of 'The
Colour Red' last year. We will be showing at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre in May
2010. Thanks TAC!
Now about to start work on 'Room for
Cake'; an exhibition with Gosia at the Yarralumla Gallery in December.
4 September 2009
This week I made good progress on
the painting I'm doing for the Cricket Art Prize; in fact I'll finish it
tomorrow or Sunday so there's plenty of time before the deadline. It's about
'the next ball' because whether social, backyard, or beach cricket; getting 'em
out is part of the game!
28 August 2009
"White" opens tomorrow
(see 'what's on') and hopefully it won't rain.I finished handing out my
invitations today and Rhondda tells me that all up 1000 have been given out;
and that's not counting the emailed invites so there should be good crowd. The
exhibition will showcase the work of many artists who are represented by
Gallery 12.
I will be exhibiting 3 paintings. A Moment White was inspired by my children at play; just doing what they
need to do to grow. These paintings represent my recognition that the brief
time spent being a 'child' is an ephemeral thing of beauty. It is something I
only discovered as an adult along with the impossibility of ever having the
experience again.
But pleasures
are like poppies spread-
You seize the
flower, its bloom is shed;
Or like the
snow falls in the river-
A moment white,
then melts forever.
Robert
Burns (1759-1796), Tam o'Shanter
If you can't make it to the opening,
the exhibition runs until Sept. 20. Hope to see you there.
19 August
Finished the 3rd painting for the
'White' series.
Now time to move on to the Cricket
Art Prize................and thinking about the 2010 Archibald and Doug Moran
entries. Hmmm.
14 August 2009
This week Gosia and I finally got
the application for a grant finished. It's the Janet Holmes a Court grant
available through NAVA. Fingers crossed-extra $ for our exhibition in
December.
My accountant at Bonsella Business
Solutions in Civic hung 2 of my paintings in their boardroom. It was agreed
that I'll be able to rotate them quarterly. Thanks Dion. I'll put the images on
the New Work page soon, A
Moment White - Boy & A Moment
White - Girl
Decided to do a 3rd painting for
"White" which I started today. The title of this series of paintings,A Moment White was inspired by the Robert Burns poem TamO'Shanter.
